Crispy Chilli Beef with Egg Noodles Recipe

Crispy beef noodles, strips of beef steak marinated in chilli, soy and sesame coated in batter, and fried till golden brown. then stir fried with stir fried in a chilli, honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger and tomato sauce, served with noodles dressed in sesame, lime, chilli and soy sauce

Recipe Ingreds


  • black pepper (to taste)
  • 200 grams corn flour
  • 1 fresh chilli
  • 8 sprig fresh coriander
  • 2 cm fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • salt (to taste)
  • 2 sirloin Steak
  • 1 sunflower oils (for frying)


  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 5 grams caster sugar
  • 0.25 tsp chilli flakes


  • 4 tbsp honey
  • 0.5 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 6 tbsp white wine vinegar


  • 0.25 tsp chilli flakes
  • 0.5 lime
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • caster sugar (to taste)
  • 2 tsp sunflower oil


  • 120 grams egg noodles

Step 1

  • place the steak in the freezer for 20 mins
  • cut the steaks into thin strips

Step 2

  • massage the marinade into the meat
  • mix the egg, chilli flakes, sesame oil, soy sauce and caster sugar together in a bowl to make the marinade
  • Make the marinade

Step 3

  • heat about 21/2 cms of frying oil in a frying pan
  • add the cornflour to the steak
  • season with salt and pepper

Step 4

  • stir till the meat strips are fully coated in corn flour
  • Drop a breadcrumb into the oil to check its hot enough it should fizzle
  • fry the steak
  • till golden browm
  • place on kitchen paper
  • set a side

Step 5

  • wash and finely chop the fresh coriander
  • peel and grate the ginger
  • peel and crush the garlic using the garlic crusher or chop finely
  • wash and finely chop the chilli

Step 6

  • mix the chilli flakes, lime juice, sesame oil, soya sauce caster sugar and sunflower oil together in a bowl to make the dressing
  • squeeze the lime(s)

Step 7

  • half fill a pan with water and boil
  • add a spot of olive oil and a pinch of salt to the boiling water
  • Add the noodles to the hot water
  • cook till soft

Step 8

  • place the sauce ingredients in a bowl
  • mix the ingredients
  • set a side

Step 9

  • Heat the wok add a spot of oil
  • add the garlic, chilli and ginger to the wok and stir fry for 30 seconds

Step 10

  • add the sauce mixture to the wok
  • Bring to the boil
  • add the crispy meat to the wok
  • stir fry for a minute or two

Step 11

  • drain the noodles and wash, place back into the pan and warm through on a low light
  • add the dressing

Step 12

  • place the noodles in individual serving dishes

  • add the crispy beef
  • sprinkle the coriander over the beef

How to make Homemade Chinese Crispy Chilli Beef with Noodles

Cut the steak into strips and add to a marinade of egg, sesame oil, soy sauce, chilli flakes and a touch of sugar. Add the cornflour to the steak and marinade fry the steak strips till golden brown set a side. Cook the noodles and prepare the noodle dressing by mixing the chilli, lime, sesame, soy, sugar, and oil. Make the sauce by mixing honey, soy sauce, tomato sauce and white wine vinegar. Add the chopped chilli, grated ginger, crushed garlic, to the wok add the crispy beef and the crispy beef sauce. Dress the noodles with the lime dressing and serve on a plate with the crispy beef.

Recipe tips

  • Prepare all the sauces and chop all the vegetables first to avoid over cooking the beef and making it tough.
